why does gachiakuta's dialogue sound so much more modern/slangy than other shonen

been reading gachiakuta after finishing the anime and the way the characters talk feels way more casual than something like jjk or demon slayer, like actual modern slang and clipped sentences instead of the usual shonen speech patterns. is that just a translation/dub choice or does the original japanese text actually read that way too, Kind of threw me off at first
