There was apparently a first look shown at Anime Expo this summer but I havent seen an actual release date anywhere since. Is season 2 officially in production or is this one of those announcements that never gets a real date attached to it?
Announced, not dated. It got the official green light back in December 2025, and it had a panel/first-look push at Anime Expo this summer like you saw, but nobody's put an actual premiere window on it yet — estimates floating around are anywhere from late 2026 to 2027, which is anime-speak for "we genuinely don't know."
So: real, in production, not vaporware. Just don't hold your breath for a date announcement anytime soon, that usually comes a lot closer to release.
Confirmed as in Bones is actually making it, yeah. They showed new footage at Anime Expo back in July. No date though, and probably won't be for a while - these "in production" reveals can sit for a year or two before an actual premiere date drops, ask literally any Berserk fan about waiting on good news that never quite solidifies. Don't hold your breath for a 2026 premiere.
